• Step One

Take at least three height measurements across the width of the aperture. If unequal, use the smallest measurement.

  • Step Two

Take at least three width measurements up the height of the aperture. If unequal, use the smallest measurement.

  • Step three

Check the aperture is square by measuring the two diagonals, which should be equal.

Measuring the width
  • On a standard square opening, take 3 measurements, top, middle and bottom on the external blockwork.

  • Place a 6-foot spirit level on the reveal to ensure the opening is relatively square, should the reveals be more than 5mm out of square, please pack the opening and remeasure.

  • We advise a 10mm fitting tolerance to be deducted from the smallest size, should the build be cladded, please contact us for further advice. Please note you must deduct tolerance yourself before ordering.
Measuring the height
  • Due to the overall widths of the opening, there can be many variables in the brickwork and the lintels can be fitted out if level, we would advise on packing the threshold block work level to measure from.

  • We advise on measurements every 500 – 750mm.

  • We offer a range of thresholds which may not work with every opening, it is important to ensure the threshold selection matches your floor heights, please contact our team to discuss if you are unsure as the cill depth and threshold are included in the overall frame size.

  • As a standard a 10mm deduction from the smallest size is sufficient providing all other factors are accounted for. Please note: you must deduct tolerance yourself before ordering.

  • We can’t take responsibility for an inaccurate measuring, or incorrect sizes provided, so if you have any further questions, please do ask and we’ll be more than happy to help.
